1. For products: does it list what is inside?

3. For courses: who teaches, and what exactly?

A named instructor, a specific technique and a stated length make a course easy to judge.

Oval Nail Shape Mastery teaches one technique timed to a 50-minute workflow. The same instructor's Complete Russian Manicure Masterclass bundles seven courses for $311.99. Buying the single technique first is a cheaper way to test the teaching style.

4. Does it promise a transformation?

Programs that promise a new appearance in a set number of days should say what you do each day.

Glow Era costs $497 for a 21-day appearance programme. At that price, ask for the daily plan, what products it requires and what support is included. Skincare Without Overwhelm takes the opposite approach for $17.99: fewer products, not more.

6. How does the price compare with a salon or pharmacy?

Compare a product with what a pharmacy sells and a course with what a local class costs.

A $117 hair serum or a $138 nail supplement bundle should be compared with pharmacy products that list their active ingredients. A $59.99 single-technique course can be compared with an in-person workshop, which adds hands-on feedback the video cannot give.

7. Is the same instructor behind several listings?

Several courses from one named instructor is a good sign: you can start small and continue if the teaching suits you.
