What should I check before buying a keto ebook?
Check who wrote it, what exactly is inside, the total at checkout, any pre-ticked extras, the health promises and the refund window. Keto offers vary from fair $14 recipe books to $37 ebooks with no description.

Keto sells well, so the market is crowded with cheap ebooks, meal plans and apps. As of October 2026 we have audited 13 offers with keto in the name. Their median price is $17 and their average score is 6.29 out of 10, with a wide spread between the best and the worst.
The checklist below comes from what actually lowered or raised those scores. We audit the sales page and the order form, and we have never bought or used any of these products, so none of this says whether a recipe tastes good. It tells you whether the offer is clear enough to be worth a try. Our full method is on the methodology page.
1. Is an author or company named?
Look for a real name, a company or a postal address. In our data, 8 of the 13 keto offers list a missing author among their drawbacks.
A recipe book does not need a medical degree, but you should know who stands behind it. The Ultimate Keto Dessert Recipe Book scores 7.2 even though no author is named, because everything else is stated clearly. That is a deduction, not a disqualifier.
The problem grows when a name is missing and the offer is vague as well. 30 Day Keto Revolution has no author, no contents list, no page count and not even a cover image, for $37.
2. Does the page say what is inside?
A good listing states the format, the number of recipes or days and what each file holds. If you cannot tell what you receive, you are buying a title.
The dessert book above names 50 recipes and says it includes nutrition values. 30-Days Ketogenic Meal Plan names its bonus files one by one: a food cheat sheet, carb alternatives, a dessert cookbook and a fasting report. That is what stated contents look like.
Compare that with the $37 ebook that tells you only that it is an ebook. Keto lists of foods to eat and avoid are free on many dietitian-run sites, so a paid file should offer more than a list.
What a clear keto listing states
- Format: PDF, printed book, app or video
- Count: recipes, meal plans or days covered
- Nutrition values such as carbs per serving
- Named bonus files, not just a dollar value
- The price in USD at checkout
3. What is the total at checkout, including shipping and tax?
Add shipping and sales tax to the advertised price. Two keto cookbooks in our data double or nearly double their headline price at the order form.
Keto After 50 advertises $9, but the US order form shows $18.35 with shipping and tax, and the page never mentions shipping. Keto After 50 Desserts is a printed book at $9 plus $7.95 shipping, $16.95 in total. We rate that one Worth it because the pricing is fair once you judge it at $16.95.

4. Is 'free' really free?
A free cookbook that asks for your card is not free. One keto page in our data advertises a free cookbook while its order form charges $10.
The 30-Day Keto Meal Plan Bundle offers a free cookbook for an email address, yet the Digistore24 order form for the same product shows $10.00. The ebook is described plainly and the 60-day refund window is real, but we rate the offer Pass because the page says free, the form says $10 and no seller is named.
A similar trap hides in trials. The 2 Week Custom Smoothie Diet trial says pay $0 now and $27 after 7 days, but two pre-checked extras raise the scheduled charge to $41.94. Read our guide on free offers with a fee before you enter a card.
5. Which health promises does the page make?
Be wary of promises about weight, disease or medication. A recipe book can show recipes. It cannot promise a loss of 7 pounds in 7 days.
Over 40 Keto Solution promises at least 7 pounds lost in 7 days and results guaranteed no matter your age or condition, and it scores 5.4. Keto After 50 makes claims about statins and heart disease. Fatty Liver Remedy claims reversal in days and in 99% of cases, and scores 4.6.
We do not judge whether a diet works. We note what the page claims and whether the claim is backed. If you take diabetes medication or have a liver, heart or kidney condition, talk to your doctor before cutting carbohydrates sharply. A sales page is not medical advice.
6. Is the urgency real?
Countdown timers and expiring bonuses on a keto page are usually page furniture, not deadlines. Reload the page and the timer starts again.

7. How long is the refund window, and where is it stated?
Check the refund line on the order form, not only the sales page. Most keto offers in our data show 60 days; one states none.
Most of the 13 keto offers show a 60-day refund window on the order form, and 30 Day Keto Revolution states none. Over 40 Keto Solution is a warning about mixed messages: its page advertises a 1-year guarantee while the order form shows 60 days. Trust the form.
