We pulled every gardening, growing and homestead offer from our catalog, 16 in all, and ranked them by Worthorpass score. The list covers what we have reviewed, not every garden product on Digistore24 or ClickBank. Foraging has its own ranking in our foraging guide list.
The score rates the offer: what the sales page and order form say, charge and promise. We have not bought or used any of these guides, so it does not tell you whether your tomatoes will grow. The scoring is explained on the methodology page.
What do the five Worth it offers have in common?
Most name what you receive and limit your risk: a page count or plant list, one clear price and, usually, a stated refund window.
The 5-Minute Garden names a 247-page main guide and five bonus resources for small-space food growing, and the order form shows $125 once with a 60-day guarantee. It is the most expensive of the top five, and the review notes it costs more than similar guides.
The Nicole Apelian Medicinal Garden Kit lists 10 named herbs, names its author, and gives a 365-day return window on a $63.99 total that includes $4.99 shipping. The same-titled Medicinal Garden Kit at $59 scores 6.9 because its vendor is not named, so check the author before you pay.
The 5 Foot Farm is a $19.95 guide at 7.0, though its order form did not confirm a refund window. The Self-Sufficient Backyard is a $37 printed book plus digital copy with a 60-day guarantee and scores 6.7.
What separates the top from the bottom?
Whether the page tells you what you are buying. The three Pass verdicts are all farm-themed offers sold from video pages that never describe the contents.
Pocket Farm at 5.2, a second Pocket Farm at 4.3 and Backyard Miracle Farm at 5.7 each cost $39 to $39.69 and are sold from video-only pages. The reviews found no description of modules, topics or file format.
The billing is not the problem. The Pocket Farm and Backyard Miracle Farm forms show a single payment and a 60-day refund window. The problem is that a refund window does not help you judge the product before paying. The second Pocket Farm form printed no refund window at all and no product description.
Pocket Farm also shows a crossed-out $89 price that the order form does not itemize. Our guide on crossed-out prices explains why that number is an anchor, not a discount.
Signs of a weak gardening offer in our reviews
- The page is a video with Buy buttons and no list of chapters or file formats.
- The author writes under a pen name or is not named at all.
- A crossed-out price or "last copies" banner on a digital product.
- A guide with no page count, plant list or sample, priced above $100.
Does a higher price mean a better gardening guide?
No. The cheapest, $10.81, scores 7.1 and the dearest, $147, scores 6.4; the median across the 16 is $39.
The First-Time Chicken Keeper's Checklist costs $147 and scores 6.4 and Worth a look. The review says no page count, running time, sample or author is published, so there is no way to weigh the price against the material.
At the other end, the Garden Planner and Logbook charges $9.99 plus 8.25% sales tax, $10.81 in total, with a 60-day refund window. It has no sales page, and its vendor transparency is 2.5, which keeps it at Worth a look. See our guide on buying from the order form alone.
Container Vegetable Gardening For Beginners at $27 (6.5) has the same pattern: a clear order form and no seller named.
What about homestead, off-grid and herb-growing guides?
They show more weak signals in our reviews: unnamed authors, urgency banners and health-adjacent claims.
The Decoupled Bastion Protocol is a $27 six-module homestead guide at 6.4, and From Zero To Off-Grid Hero is $17 at 6.1, with a vendor transparency of 2. The second Self-Sufficient Backyard listing, The Self-Sufficient Backyard book, is $37 at 5.8: it advertises a "70% Discount" and "last books" for a digital item.
Backyard Healing Herbs is a printed book at $50.75 with shipping and tax, scoring 5.6. For herbs grown for remedies, read our herbal remedy books guide and talk to a doctor before treating anything. We do not assess whether any plant works as medicine.
Broader context is in the home and garden category, the survival category and our home and garden checklist.
How should you choose a gardening guide before paying?
Pick the offer that names its contents and author, confirm one payment and the refund window on the order form, and match the guide to your climate and space.
- Find the page count, plant list or chapter list. If the page is only a video, look elsewhere.
- Open the order form and note the total, shipping, tax and refund window.
- Check whether an author or company is named, and whether the guide fits your climate and plot size.
- Prefer a small first purchase: a $10 to $20 guide before a $125 system.
- For kits with plants or seeds, check the return rules for physical items; the Apelian kit needs the seed pack mailed back.
Use this checklist before you pay for any garden or homestead guide.

Are Pocket Farm and Backyard Miracle Farm worth buying?
We scored them 5.2, 4.3 and 5.7, all Pass. Their pages are video-only and do not say what you receive, so we could not find a reason to recommend them.

The 16 we reviewed range from $10.81 to $147 with a median of $39 as of October 2026. All are one-time payments, with no subscriptions.
