Pre-Ticked Add-Ons and Order Bumps: Read Every Checkbox
An order bump is a small extra offered on the order form. Most are optional and unticked. A few arrive already ticked, and that is where the total quietly grows.
What is an order bump?
A checkbox on the order form that adds a related product to your purchase.
Digistore24 lets vendors attach extra products to the order form: an audio version, a bonus guide, a support package. Shown unticked, they are a fair offer you can take or leave. Shown ticked, they turn into a default you have to notice and reverse.

1. Is shipping insurance already ticked?
Small insurance and protection fees are the most common pre-selected extras on supplement orders.
On iGenics, an $8.99 shipping insurance add-on came pre-selected, raising the total to $76.99. The amount is small enough to miss, which is the point.
Shipping insurance can be worth having, but it should be your choice.
2. Did the cart open with more than one product?
Some links open a checkout that is already loaded with several products.
The Software Testing Course link opens a checkout preloaded with three courses totalling $467, while the testing course alone is listed at $67. Modern Relationships for Women pre-adds a recurring $7.95 monthly membership.
Scroll through every line of the cart. The product you came for may be only one of them.
3. Does a free offer become paid through a box?
A free product with a ticked extra is a paid product.
This is more common on the German side of our network, but the pattern is the same everywhere: the main item costs zero, a ticked starter kit or template pack makes up the total. Our free offers guide shows how these funnels are built.
If the page says free and the total is not zero, look for the box.
4. Are you subscribing to more than you think?
Newsletter consent boxes are sometimes ticked by default.
Buy The Damn Stocks has a pre-ticked style newsletter opt-in labelled I want the good stuff. It costs nothing, but it adds you to a marketing list.
Untick it if you only want the product. You can still receive your order and access emails.
5. What if you already paid for a ticked extra?
Ask Digistore24 for a refund of that item, citing your order ID.
